Pattern/Tooling Engineer

Meloon Foundries LLC is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pattern/Tooling Engineer to join their manufacturing team. This role involves managing tooling, ensuring precision and quality, and collaborating with team members to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

Ensure all company and customer owned tooling is properly managed & perform qualification measures of the tools to meet blueprints
Manage all aspects of patterns, tooling, molding equipment to ensure structural integrity and dimensional accuracy
Determine the parting line of patterns, amount of draft to be allowed, and type of cores to be used to produce castings and determine the riser and gating system configuration
Maintain, repair and update wood/metal patterns engineering drawings and customer specifications
Develop and validate operating processes for new and existing quoted products
Ensures all patterns and core boxes meet precise specifications, improving casting quality
Review and provide input on product and tool design changes to meet customer blueprints for manufacturability and cost effectiveness
Provide support to the plant for tooling repairs and maintenance and manage the outsourced patterns
Review all manufacturing processes to ensure that daily production achieves quoted parameters, including quality and scrap rates
Understand solidification of aluminum and brass, as well as various molding methods
Ability to utilize testing equipment and prepare reports to meet customer requirements
Quotes, analyzes and manages any cost reductions and improvements in current production and continuous improvement projects

Required

Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution, preferably an A.A.S. in related engineering discipline, will consider equivalent work experience within foundry industry
Five years' experience as a tool/patternmaker
Communicate with customers on all aspects of the products and/or tooling
Must have a strong desire to be on the shop floor
