Responsibilities
Assist with field building including layout and painting, dragging and grooming fields, tournament setup and prep, general daily maintenance and improvement of playing surfaces and facilities
Field setups and field changes for different age groups or sports, litter and trash removal, restroom cleanliness, resolving any field issues that may arise during gameplay, general park cleanliness and any other related duties that may need to be completed each day
Maintain various grounds, fields, facilities and green spaces for the parks department by performing mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, blowing, grooming, dragging, and other manual tasks not specifically mentioned
Janitorial functions in restrooms and park facilities to maintain a clean environment, including litter pick up and trash disposal
Safe and responsible use of hand tools and equipment such as park vehicles, mowers, utility vehicles and more
Special protocols are implemented to lessen the need to work in adverse weather conditions, although at times the ability to perform labor intensive tasks in all types of weather conditions may be necessary
Must be able to work independently without direct supervision, as well as in a team environment to safely and productively complete tasks. The ability to exercise initiative, good judgement, and time management while remaining productive is essential
Qualification
Required
Must be at least 17 years of age
Possession of a valid driver's license in good standing
Must have an email address to receive work correspondence
Ability to work staggered shift assignments as necessary, which may include weekends
Reliability and dependability
Follow both verbal and written instructions
Strong work ethic and communication skills
Willingness to learn new skills and techniques
The ability to understand and comply with workplace rules and policies
Must be able to work and cooperate with others, resolve problems, and possess a positive attitude while contributing to and maintaining a safe, productive, and respectful work environment
Must always represent the city and parks department in a positive and professional manner
Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with pedestrians
The ability to perform physical activities such as standing or walking for extended periods, frequent and repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing of ladders, kneeling or working aloft from an aerial lift device/truck
The ability to lift 30-70lbs regularly
The ability to push, pull, squat, walk, stand, complete a variety of motor skills and perform repetitive movements on a regular basis
The ability to perform work in an outdoor work environment, including inclement weather
Preferred
Advanced technical knowledge in sports field management, grounds management or a related field
Experience with operating equipment such as trucks and trailers, mowers, utility vehicles or others
