Senior Optical Networking Customer Support Engineer

Responsibilities

Troubleshooting server OS, assisting IT administration, and troubleshooting software and network telecom equipment issues
Report to a customer site up to 5 days a week
Some work could be remote but currently expected to have someone onsite
Understanding and experience with leading telecom equipment, optical networking, and troubleshooting skills
Provide own PC desktop support
Self-starter and self-motivated with a strong initiative to learn
Exhibit outstanding teamwork
Have excellent communication skills for cross-departmental management

Required

Deep knowledge of optical networking, specifically including DWDM/OTN & Ethernet from various vendors
SONET DS1 thru OC192 and SDH is a plus
In-depth NOC and/or onsite experience in provisioning, troubleshooting, and overall process development
Knowledge of TL1, SNMP, CLI, REST, RESTCONF, Netconf/Yang protocols
Understanding and experience with leading telecom equipment, optical networking, and troubleshooting skills
LINUX/UNIX working knowledge is a plus
Primarily work from home office. Access to a quiet home office is required
4-7+ years minimum work experience in telecom, preferably in a NOC environment
Excellent customer service support
Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, as well as other communication packages – Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, Zoom, BlueJeans, Google Meet, and others utilized daily, with video
Must be able to provide own PC desktop support
Must be a self-starter and self-motivated with a strong initiative to learn, exhibit outstanding teamwork, and have excellent communication skills for cross-departmental management
Associate degree or higher in engineering or computer science field
The candidate must be able to report to a customer site up to 5 days a week
The candidate must have current Secret or Top-Secret clearance
