DISTRICT STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
The Department of Health Care Access and Information is responsible for ensuring healthcare access for Californians. They are seeking a District Structural Engineer to oversee complex structural engineering work and ensure that healthcare facilities are constructed according to approved plans and regulations.

Responsibilities
In charge of difficult and complex field structural engineering work
Observe the construction of healthcare facilities as required to ensure work is performed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI)
Ensure compliance with Title 24, California Code of Regulations (CCRs) and other applicable codes, guidelines and policies
Maintain current certification/registration with appropriate licensing board
Qualification
Required
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts for verification
Official transcripts will be required upon appointment
California Structural Engineer license is required
Recent experience within the past 5 years with California Building Standards Codes, Title 24 Building Codes and Regulations, and other California business practices, policies and interpretations for health facilities, hospitals
Knowledge or experience with various materials and methods of construction, especially Type 1 construction, e.g. Structural Steel and deep foundations
Experience in retrofit of existing structures using the California Building Codes for existing buildings
Recent structural engineering experience within past 5 years in hospital design
Structural plan review experience
Structural field review experience
Experience working and resolving issues with a multi-disciplinary team, clients, contractors and other technical and professional staff
Experience inspecting or reviewing quality of structural engineering work in office and/or field
Experience performing technical evaluation of construction documents
Maintain a current, comprehensive working knowledge of California business practices, codes, regulations, policies, interpretations, materials and methods of construction applicable to your specific areas of enforcement
Demonstrate a commitment to performing duties in a service-oriented manner
Communicate well with others and handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
Design experience in the different types of Seismic Force Resisting Systems and bracing different types of non-structural components
Ability to apply technical skills to formulate practical solutions in resolving structural plan and field review issues
Experience handling code enforcement issues with architects, engineers, health care facility owners, contractors and other technical and professional staff
Good writing and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred
Participation in professional structural engineer organizations
