Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership to advance the Vireo/pH-D portfolio. Independently research, design, formulate, and conduct experiments, driving discovery and innovation that lead to the development of new products and improve the performance of existing products
Lead the design and synthesis of novel molecules using a variety of synthetic organic chemistry techniques. Characterize synthesized compounds and confirm their chemical structure and purity by utilizing various analytical techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and chromatography
Conduct comprehensive literature searches and patent analyses to identify novel chemical entities and applications and assess their patentability. Contributes to the development of intellectual property strategies to protect proprietary molecules and technologies
Manage research projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely execution and delivery of project milestones. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align project goals with strategic objectives
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including the Scientific Advisory Board, marketing, product development, and production to ensure products align with brand expectations and ensure smooth transitions to commercial production and readiness for successful product launches
Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and data analyses in laboratory notebooks. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and manuscripts for internal review and external publication

Required

Degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field; Masters in Chemistry is a plus
4+ years of experience in the Chemical industry, Cosmetics, Life Sciences, VMS (supplements), personal care/nutritional, and/or food, etc
Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry techniques, including small molecule synthesis, purification, and characterization
Strong knowledge of structure-based ingredient design principles and computational chemistry tools
Formulations experience: cosmetics, supplements, and/or nutritional
Demonstrated track record of scientific innovation and achievement, as evidenced by publications, patents, or presentations
Hands-on lab experience and thrives in a fast-paced start-up culture
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
