Project Engineer Marine Construction, Heavy Civil Construction

League Motion is seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to support marine, waterfront, and port-adjacent infrastructure projects in the Signal Hill / South Bay / Harbor region. This field-focused role coordinates crews, equipment, and materials to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans.

Responsibilities

Support projects across Signal Hill and South Bay port-adjacent operational sites
Field-intensive role — work directly with crews to ensure safe, quality, and timely project delivery
Exposure to federally funded marine and heavy civil projects, including both military and civilian contracts
Leverage your field, federal, or military experience to oversee workflows, enforce safety protocols, and maintain quality standards
Occasional out-of-town assignments may be required; lodging provided

Required

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in marine or heavy civil construction projects
Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) if not already held
Proficient in AutoCAD and Bluebeam
Experienced with construction document control, including correspondence, RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and progress payments
Ability to support and enforce MSHA, OSHA, USACE, and company safety policies
Military construction or federal experience is a plus (USACE, NAVFAC, Army Corps, etc.)
Private-sector engineers with USACE/federal or port/marine construction experience are highly encouraged to apply

Preferred

Experience working on USACE projects
Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 requirements for hazard identification, safety compliance, accident prevention plans, and activity hazard analyses
Completed EM 385-1-1 training appropriate for SSHO or QC Manager roles on USACE projects
