Axiom Space is collaborating with Astrolab, Inc. to develop a Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) for future Artemis missions. They are seeking a Principal Mockups Engineer to lead the design and fabrication of LTV mockups and EVA crew interfaces, drive innovation in mechanical design, and manage project timelines and resources.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and fabrication of LTV mockups and EVA crew interfaces
Drive innovation in mechanical system design, exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance product capabilities
Plan and perform testing of components and integrated assemblies
Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables
Prepare and present technical reports, design documentation, and project updates to stakeholders
Performing additional job duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's or master's degree in STEM from an accredited institution
15-20 years of experience in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
Strong mechanical design, integration, and mechanism analysis skills using 3D modeling and simulation tools; i.e. SolidWorks preferred
Experience developing mockup hardware structures and mechanisms including the following materials: metallic, non-metallic, composite
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
