Cost Reporting/Accounting Manager

Cincinnati Children's Office of Academic Affairs and Career Development is committed to improving children's health through a holistic team approach. The Cost Reporting/Accounting Manager will prepare cost reports, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and lead a team to optimize financial performance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Prepare timely and accurate cost reports and variance analyses for internal management, external stakeholders, and regulatory compliance, including Medicare and Medicaid cost reports
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Revenue Cycle, Accounting, Operations, and Clinical departments, to gather relevant cost data, provide insights, and support decision-making to optimize resource allocation and financial performance
Lead and mentor a team of cost reporting and cost accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure departmental goals and objectives are met effectively
Develop and maintain comprehensive cost accounting systems and processes to accurately capture, allocate, and report costs associated with hospital operations, including direct and indirect costs, labor, supplies, and overhead expenses
Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in cost accounting and healthcare finance to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement initiatives
Liaise with external auditors, government agencies, and third-party payers to facilitate audits, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reimbursement guidelines
Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management, such as system implementations, financial modeling, and strategic planning exercises, to support organizational goals and objectives

Qualification

Cost reporting experienceHealthcare reimbursement knowledgeFinancial analysis proficiencyCPA designationCommunication skills

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree and/or CPA designation preferred
5 years of progressive experience in cost reporting
Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, regulatory requirements (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid), and healthcare industry trends required
Proficiency in financial analysis, variance analysis, and financial modeling techniques, with advanced skills in Microsoft products
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization

Preferred

Master's degree and/or CPA designation
