Milieu Safety Technician
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde is looking for a Milieu Safety Technician to ensure a safe environment for staff and clients. The role involves securing facilities, monitoring patient areas, and providing support to clients while maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols.

Responsibilities
Responsible for securing the facilities by providing opening/closing duties, responds to security issues, and ensures a safe environment for staff and clients
Monitors all patient facing areas and looks for any diversion or loitering activities
Acts as a positive role-model to individuals being served
Keeps client traffic moving effectively and safely through the main clinic area
Provides a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for clients to conduct their daily business
Identifies any potential crisis situations and informs the appropriate staff
Develops rapport with clients and answer questions regarding clinic functions
Informs and reminds clients of site rules
Supports Trauma Informed Care perspective. Understands the effects of trauma, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those served in the OTP
Escorts visitors to the facility and provides tours as needed
Provides cleaning duties during clinic down times to ensure testing bathrooms are kept tidy and front lobby is free of debris. Walks through the front entrance of the clinic daily to ensure clients are keeping the site clean
Cleans and sanitizes bodily fluid spills in the patient facing areas of the clinic
Responsible for identifying and safely disposing of any syringes or other paraphernalia found in the clinic or surrounding clinic grounds
Encourages clients to pick up after themselves and create a warm, clean, recovery environment
Attends debrief meetings on any client safety or threat issues, contributes to and identifies solutions with multidisciplinary OTP team
Serves as member of Safety Committee. Ensures safety protocols are followed and conducts practice drills for staff
Assists with equipment installation, receiving packages and mail
Performs basic janitorial and maintenance of the Tribal facilities and furniture; including but not limited to; collects and deposits cardboard, change lightbulbs, and moves office furniture
Checks fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and refers problems to supervisor for resolution
Responds to false alarms during business hours; i.e. pulled fire alarms, etc
Assists with transporting clients to various appointments
Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
Requires one (1) year of experience in a role interacting with the public or providing security services
If a recovering chemically dependent person must be in a program of recovery and able to provide documentation of sobriety for a minimum of two years
Experience with issues involving addiction required
OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Must maintain a valid Oregon driver's license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe's vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance
Proven ability to work independently and interpret policies and procedures, under pressure with little or no supervision
Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
Ability to work with all levels of individuals, including disgruntled people in an effective manner
Ability to demonstrate boundaries and concise clear communication skills
Follows and enforces all safety and security protocols
Demonstrated working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft programs
Ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e. copier, fax machine, personal computer)
Excellent interpersonal skills oral and written
Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters. Knowledge of ethical and legal requirements and restrictions pertaining to the maintenance of medical records, as well as facility policies, HIPAA and other federal regulations
Requires strong commitment to accurately completing task, solving problems, demonstrating initiative, organization, and attention to detail
Ability to compile written reports; read and interpret various documents; and obtain the cooperation of Tribal programs
Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture is required
Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication
Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks
Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally
Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds
Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan
Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations
Candidates for this position will be subject to criminal and character background checks and may be subject to fingerprinting
