Director/ExecutiveThe Indoor Environmental Health Institute is a California-based nonprofit committed to advancing clinical research and translational science in indoor environmental health. They are seeking a Founding Board Member to help establish governance frameworks, ensure compliance with regulations, and uphold fiduciary responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Uphold core fiduciary responsibilities and nonprofit governance best practices, including prudent oversight, ethical stewardship, independence of judgment, and alignment with the Institute’s mission and legal obligations
Ensure best practices in nonprofit governance and financial accountability
Provide governance-level oversight related to compliance, risk management, and institutional integrity
Advise on regulatory requirements, internal controls, and organizational policies
Contribute to the development and review of governance, compliance, and ethics frameworks
Support adherence to federal and state nonprofit regulations, including 501(c)(3) requirements
Collaborate with fellow board members to provide strategic direction while maintaining appropriate governance–operations boundaries
Safeguard the Institute’s credibility, mission, and long-term public trust
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of fiduciary governance, compliance, and nonprofit financial management practices
Prior experience in nonprofit leadership, policy-making, or serving on boards
Demonstrated familiarity with research ethics and regulatory compliance in clinical or scientific research contexts
Professional experience in nonprofit governance, legal compliance, finance, public policy, healthcare administration, or organizational policy development is highly desirable
Comfort contributing to early-stage institutional development with care, discipline, and discretion
Must be based in the United States
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
Preferred
Experience or familiarity with indoor environmental health, public health, clinical research, or related fields is beneficial but not required
