DCI Deputy Administrator

Responsibilities

Planning, organization and direction of a statewide investigation and enforcement program within the Division of Criminal Investigation
Managing highly complex executive liaison and staff functions and services
Determining goals and objectives for the bureau by analyzing current programs and developing new investigative programs in terms of cost benefit, safety, and services provided
Reviewing, evaluating, and approving or making recommendations for investigations initiated by the bureau
Serving as the Acting Administrator of the Division during the absence of the DCI Administrator
Managing the DCI Criminal Investigation Directors 'Bureau Directors' to ensure alignment with the Department’s mission and goals
Overseeing the administrative functions within the division, including internal processes, operation and budgeting

Required

Must be a certified/certifiable law enforcement officer in the State of Wisconsin
Experience in managing complex and diverse criminal investigations involving multi-jurisdictional law enforcement partners
Experience in developing and managing budgets and/or grants and providing fiscal oversight
Experience in performing administrative functions (e.g., policy creation and compliance, personnel management, etc.)
Experience in supervising certified law enforcement personnel or leading civilian support personnel during an investigation (e.g., hiring, training, assigning duties, evaluating performance, discipline, etc.)
Experience in implementing operational recommendations that impact public safety on a local, state, tribal, or federal level
Must meet all WI Law Enforcement Standards Board requirements, which also include an extensive character and background investigation, as well as fingerprints, drug screening, psychological evaluation, and medical testing
Must be free of Brady or Giglio disclosure obligations for testimony in court
Frequent in-state travel will be required, and occasional overnight or out-of-state travel may be necessary for investigative purposes
Must be eligible to drive when required for travel
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment
All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9

Preferred

Developing and maintaining professional relationships with government agencies and other law enforcement officials for the purpose of coordinating services
Leading or managing the administrative functions of a law enforcement agency (e.g., policy creation and compliance, personnel management, etc.)
Leading the full cycle budget and/or grant planning and development processes including the implementation of fiscal reporting requirements
Supervising supervisors (e.g., hiring, training, assigning duties, evaluating performance, discipline, etc.)
Developing and implementing strategies for fostering equity and inclusion, employee engagement, encouraging professional development, and/or providing for employee health and wellness
