Assistant Inspector General for Investigations

Responsibilities

Establish a budget and staffing allocation; direct the work of the Office and is held accountable for the success of the Offices'
Principal advisor to the Inspector General on investigative matters, providing the technical capability for ensuring realistic and effective OIG decisions on investigative matters
Provide the official liaison for the Department and Office of Inspector General with other Federal investigative agencies, the Department of Justice, and state and local law enforcement organizations
Advise the Inspector General on investigative risks, trends, and corrective actions
Ensure timely, accurate reporting to HUD leadership and Congress

Required

Complete a 1-year SES probationary period, unless already completed
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment
Complete an Executive Personnel Financial Disclosure Report annually
Undergo appropriate tax checks
If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so
Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit / Electronic Funds Transfer
Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9
Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S
Obtain and use a government-issued charge card for business-related travel
You may be subject to pre-employment and/or random drug testing
You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Be willing to travel an average of 5 days per month
Test negative for the presence of illegal drugs before placement in this position and be subject to random drug testing thereafter
Satisfactorily complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Criminal Investigator Training Program, or its equivalent
Carry a firearm, maintain firearms proficiency, and conduct full law enforcement activities
Be willing to work irregular unscheduled hours and under hazardous conditions
Be willing to relocate at the direction of management
Pass a pre-employment physical examination
Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
Basic Requirement - Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of progressively responsible leadership experience indicative of senior executive level managerial capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Executive Core Qualifications
Evidence must be provided that clearly demonstrates the applicant has the necessary level of executive potential, skills, abilities, specialized knowledge, and technical qualifications to perform as a SES executive
Demonstrated executive level investigative experience leading, directing, and monitoring a comprehensive Federal criminal or administrative investigative program in an Inspector General or law enforcement organization
Demonstrated experience participating as a representative of an agency in conferences and negotiations with HUD and/or Federal department officials at all levels
