Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain robust, scalable software solutions for managing GitHub Enterprise resources, primarily through API interactions
Build tools to automate creation, configuration, and policy enforcement across multiple GitHub Organizations
Develop systems for standardized repository creation, management, archiving, and deletion, ensuring compliance and security best practices
Implement mechanisms (e.g., custom GitHub Apps and Actions) to enforce organizational policies on code quality, security, and contributions. Explore alternatives to traditional pre-commit hooks
Integrate GitHub with enterprise services such as identity providers, security scanners, and compliance platforms
Reduce manual effort by driving automation initiatives for operational GitHub tasks
Explore and implement Generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity and code quality
Work closely with security, infrastructure, and development teams to gather requirements and ensure enterprise-wide solutions
Create clear, comprehensive documentation for tools and services developed
Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers across the organization
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
5–7 years preferred
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go preferred, Python beneficial)
Experience designing, consuming, and interacting with APIs
GitHub APIs (REST and GraphQL)
GitHub Apps (building, deploying, managing)
GitHub Actions (complex workflows, custom actions)
GitHub Enterprise, Organization, and Repository settings
Background in SRE, operations, or infrastructure engineering with a strong focus on automation and stability
Familiarity with dependency management, security remediation, secure coding practices, testing frameworks, and Git workflows
Strong analytical skills with proactive approach to challenges
Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar tools
Preferred
Interest or experience with Generative AI tools in development processes
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, including Kubernetes controllers
Experience with AWS or Azure public cloud services (networking, compute, IAM)
Security domain knowledge, including cloud/DevOps best practices and common vulnerabilities
