Network Infrastructure Technician II

Responsibilities
Ability to help resolve complex technical issues and assist with project implementation with some independence
Install passive infrastructure cabling of supporting systems (e.g., fiber, copper, etc.)
Install active infrastructure equipment
Ability to terminate fiber and copper cabling
Ability to fusion splice fiber
Implement designed changes to existing networks and equipment by utilizing schematics such as AutoCAD and Visio documentation
Update design and implementation documentation for structured cabling systems
Participate in the installation and testing of network structured cabling systems, to include CAT6, CAT6A and multi-mode fiber
Participate in the installation and testing of telecommunication systems bonding and grounding
Provide technical problem diagnoses and resolution support for all associated LAN and WLAN cabling systems
Utilize in the use of cable analyzer and diagnostic equipment, punch tools, and cabling tools
Enforce BICSI and TIA cabling and grounding standards
Work as part of a team cohesively with other technicians and engineers
Report to a site manager or head of department
Qualification
Required
Minimum active Secret clearance, TS/SCI preferred
Ability to help resolve complex technical issues and assist with project implementation with some independence
Install passive infrastructure cabling of supporting systems (e.g., fiber, copper, etc.)
Install active infrastructure equipment
Ability to terminate fiber and copper cabling
Ability to fusion splice fiber
Implement designed changes to existing networks and equipment by utilizing schematics such as AutoCAD and Visio documentation

+ Experience with enterprise scale network infrastructure 1 year of telecommunications/electronics vocational training or professional certification from an ABET accredited technical school or equivalent military school
+ Strong understanding of layer 2 (switching, VLANs) and Layer 3 (routing, protocols), and network security
+ Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with LAN/WLAN infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance
+ Experience with troubleshooting physical network technologies
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
+ Active Secret Clearance, TS/SCI preferred
+ Must be able to pass a technical interview
+ BICSI Technician® (TECH) Certification strongly preferred
+ Bachelor's degree in related fields or equivalent experience
