Responsibilities

Curate and maintain glossaries, taxonomies, and metadata for business and technical assets

Design and implement governance workflows (e.g., stewardship approvals, certifications, data access protocols)

Support PII/PHI classification, data quality checks, and lineage validation

Collaborate with data product managers, SMEs, and engineers to capture business context, align it with technical architectures and strengthen metadata documentation

Drive adoption of governance tools through road-shows, training sessions, user enablement, and data owner/steward playbooks

Participate in Agile ceremonies by contributing to backlog building and sprint events in Jira

Required

5–7+ years of professional experience, including 2–3+ years in a data governance function

Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data cataloging/lineage concepts

Proven ability to translate business needs into governance policies, standards, and workflows

Excellent communication and collaboration skills and experience working across business and technical teams

Hands-on experience with Atlan or similar metadata management tools. Familiarity with data quality and observability tools (e.g., Anomalo)

Strong SQL skills with the ability to analyze and validate data lineage

Experience applying governance frameworks, glossary management, and stewardship processes

Working in Agile environments using Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint

Preferred

Proficiency with Data platforms and relevant Data Management tools such as Databricks, Redshift, dbt, FiveTran, Streamlit etc

Experience with data protection, MDM, data profiling etc

Working knowledge of Python for data analysis and automation

Exposure to AI-enabled governance accelerators or AI-assisted cataloging

Experience supporting data modernization or cloud migration initiatives in enterprise settings
