Start in 2026 SummerCastleton Commodities International is an independent global commodities merchant, and they are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Generative AI Intern to join their Global Data Science team. The intern will support generative AI projects and gain practical experience in creating AI tools while collaborating with diverse teams.

Responsibilities
Assist in the development and execution of a strategic roadmap for integrating generative AI technologies into the firm's trading operations
Collaborate with analysts and technologists to support the delivery of AI-driven projects
Contribute to ensuring the scalability, reliability, and robustness of generative AI tools in a production environment
Architect Multi-Agent Systems: Collaborate on the design of multi-agent systems where specialized agents work together to solve complex, cross-domain problems
Participate in managing projects, data cataloging, and metadata for the Generative AI initiative
Work closely with traders, analysts, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
Communicate complex AI concepts and outcomes to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
Stay up to date on the latest advancements in generative AI, identifying opportunities for innovation
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or a related field
Expected graduation date of Winter 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027
Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks (e.g., evolved versions of LangChain, LlamaIndex, Crew AI, etc.) for building tool-using, planning agents
Proficiency with Python & SQL programming
Demonstrated experience of context engineering, with a deep understanding of techniques like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), advanced function calling, and model orchestration
Familiarity with building and integrating APIs or MCPs
Familiarity with the architecture of AI systems, including the role of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate) in providing long-term memory and context for agents
Excellent algorithmic problem-solving skills, with the ability to design systems that can navigate ambiguity
A strong sense of intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated passion for building the future of AI
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
