Director of Legal and Risk Management
Oxenham Group is seeking a Director of Legal and Risk Management to develop and lead the enterprise risk strategy for a growing multi-state portfolio. This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating various operational, financial, legal, safety, and reputational risks while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
Design and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, identifying emerging risks across operations, maintenance, finance, HR, and technology
Lead the development of insurance, claims, and loss-prevention programs, including property, liability, workers' compensation, and cyber coverage
Partner with Legal, Finance, HR, and Operations to monitor regulatory compliance and contract risk
Analyze incident trends, root causes, and loss data to implement proactive mitigation strategies
Develop and maintain business continuity and emergency response plans
Oversee third-party risk, vendor insurance compliance, and audit readiness
Provide quarterly risk dashboards and recommendations to executive leadership
Serve as the internal champion for a "Zero-Harm and Zero-Surprise” culture across the organization
Qualification
Required
Active license to practice law in South Dakota (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire; required)
10+ years of progressive experience in legal, compliance, or risk management roles
Strong understanding of insurance programs, claims administration, and regulatory compliance
Demonstrated ability to design and implement enterprise-level legal and risk frameworks
Preferred
Experience in residential or commercial property management
