TARGET SYSTEMS REPAIRER (TITLE 32)

Responsibilities

Install, remove, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair voice and/or nonvoice communications systems including intercom equipment; electronic systems; terminal communications equipment; modem; fiber-optic end equipment; Tl-carriers, and line drivers
Review work orders and layout sheets to select equipment and circuits required
Install thermal target equipment to include, but not limited to, AC or DC powered thermal heating panels
Isolate faulty components and determines extent of repair or replacement required to restore power, signal, or correct mechanical operation
Repair or replace exposed, broken, cut or damage cables
Inspect and tests Army Standard Integrated Target Systems, using wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and test equipment (i.e., voltmeters, multiplexers, miniature consoles, and digital multi-meters)
Operate and maintain wheeled vehicles assigned to the shop
Ensure before, during, and after operational checks are performed and required logbook information is completed after each use of a vehicle
Perform other duties as assigned

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment
Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a trial period
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
This is an Army National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment
Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position
Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day
For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility
Military Grades: E-4 through E-6
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use and maintain electronic and electrical equipment, components, and ability to perform repairs and testing. Candidates must have knowledge of standard troubleshooting techniques in order to troubleshoot for common recurring kinds of defects
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training demonstrating knowledge of electronics, test equipment, measuring devices, and equipment used to assemble, disassemble, clean, replace, or adjust target systems and control panels. Candidates must be proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, specifications, and wiring diagrams to aid in minor troubleshooting and repairs of defected equipment
