Responsibilities

Under the direction of Director of Communications and External Affairs, the Press Secretary is responsible for coordinating, managing, and implementing agency goals and priorities by proactively keeping the public, partners, stakeholders and media informed about agency issues and special initiatives, and projects
Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson for agency
Manage day-to-day media relations for the agency under the guidance of the Director
Respond timely to media requests, providing clear, concise and consistent information when needed

Required

Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail, grammar accuracy, and strategic message development in accordance with AP Style
High level of proficiency in digital communications and technology (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Social Media)

Ability to work independently
Ability to provide information succinctly, accurately, and clearly in verbal and written communiques
Ability to seamlessly adapt to rapidly changing priorities and accelerating deadlines
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records
The selected candidate may require travel up to 25%
The selected candidate may be required to work weekends or after regular work hours as needed
