The City Assessor will direct personnel in assessment and appraisal activities, ensuring compliance with professional standards and analyzing property valuations.

Responsibilities

Direct trained personnel in assessment and appraisal related activities
Ensure Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and statutory compliance
Analyze sales information and defend market and income valuation models for residential and commercial property assessments
Develop statutory and statistical reports to describe the assessment results
Validate the uniformity of assessments and support assessed values before the Board of Review

Qualification

State certification Assessor 2/3Bachelor’s degree in financeBachelor’s degree in accountingIAAO Certified Assessment EvaluatorSupervisory experienceMaster’s degree in related fieldValid driver’s license

Required

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
State of Wisconsin certification at the level of Assessor 2 and 3 within 90 days of hire
Must possess or obtain (within 30 days of hire) and maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred

International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) or an equivalent designation
3 years of assessing or related experience
5 years of supervisory experience
Master's degree in a related field
