Responsibilities
Perform detailed engineering design for overhead and underground electric distribution systems
Develop distribution layouts, equipment configurations, and construction packages based on utility standards
Conduct engineering calculations including voltage drop, conductor sizing, pole loading, and cable selection
Prepare design drawings, technical documents, and supporting calculations for client review and construction
Review field data, as-built information, and site conditions to ensure constructible designs
Coordinate with project managers, drafters, and other engineers to support project schedules and deliverables
Support responses to technical questions from utilities, contractors, and internal teams
Ensure all work complies with NESC, NEC, utility requirements, and local codes
Participate in design reviews and quality checks to maintain technical accuracy and consistency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
4-10 years of experience in electric distribution engineering with direct design responsibility
Strong working knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems
Experience with distribution design tools such as AutoCAD, GIS-based tools, or similar platforms
Solid understanding of utility standards, construction practices, and safety requirements
Ability to work independently on design tasks while collaborating within a project team
Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal
