Process Design Engineer
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest US Department of Energy (DOE) science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research. The Process Design Engineer will provide technical leadership and design solutions for centrifuge machine design and enrichment system development, working closely with project managers and other engineers.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and creative design solutions that strategically advance centrifuge machine design and support enrichment system development
Work closely with the Testbed Design Engineering Group Leader to deliver task assignments and design outputs while following established design processes
Collaborate with Sr. Process Design Engineer(s) and other ESED subject matter experts, project managers, and WBS managers to execute discrete project scope according to approved schedules, budgets, and technical milestones
Participate in the process design of complex testbeds for evaluation and researching enrichment devices as well as production system for stable isotopes enrichment
Create and maintain process design documentation including Design Basis / Systems Requirements Documents, PFDs and P&IDs, Heat and Material Balances, Line sizing and hydraulic calculations, Equipment and instrument sizing/selection including safety device (e.g. relief valve, rupture disk) sizing, Control System Narratives
Qualification
Required
BS degree with 2+ years of experience, or M.S. degree with at least 1 year of experience in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field of study
Ability to get and maintain a DOE Q clearance which requires US Citizenship
Ability to work flexible hours and travel when required
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred
Active DOE Q Clearance
Licensed NCEES Professional Engineer
MS Visio and Autodesk AutoCAD experience
Experience with hydraulic modeling program such are AFT Arrow & AFT Fathom
Experience in a testing & development environment
