The role involves collecting blood samples, identifying patients, and managing specimens for laboratory testing while ensuring effective communication and data management.

Responsibilities

Collects blood samples

Correctly identifies patients

Transports specimens

Performs all related clerical and computer functions

Registering, ordering, proper collection, labeling, processing, and distribution of specimens for laboratory testing from patients of all ages

Utilizing relevant computer programs and perform data entry

Serve as the central communication of the laboratory for all incoming requests

Maintaining quality and quantity of specimens sent to reference laboratories and the reporting of results received

Qualification

Phlebotomy certificationPhlebotomy experienceMedical terminologyComputer proficiencyEffective communication

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required

Ability to communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff

Good working knowledge of medical terminology and computers

Preferred

Phlebotomy certification preferred

Experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting preferred
