The State of Florida is seeking a Regulatory Specialist I to join the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The role involves reviewing and processing pesticide brand registration applications, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and providing information to applicants and the public.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Reviews applications to determine eligibility for pesticide brand registration
Screens for duplicate registration request data prior to entering registration data into the Registration Tracking System (RTS)
Prepares and issues brand registrations
Processes and issues registration confirmation letters on reviewed and accepted new or amended registration applications and re-registration applications following the Section’s policies and procedures as outlined in the RTS manual
Reviews and verifies incoming pesticide registration applications for completeness in accordance with Chapter 5E-2 of the Florida Administrative Code
Brings any discrepancies and/or problems on the registration application that requires further attention to the supervisor
Performs these activities in accordance with section policies and procedures
Organizes new, amended, re-registrations, and obsolete registration files and related registration documentation following established Section filing formats and procedures for records retention
Interfaces and correlates paper files with the electronic files uploaded into the ALSTAR by various companies
Processes information requests involving pesticide product registrations from industry, other state agencies and the public
Communicates verbally and in writing with applicants to provide accurate information on registration requirements and to resolve problems
Answers inquiries from public and applicants regarding brand registrations
Performs other related duties
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Professional or nonprofessional experience in administrative work, regulatory work, consumer complaint program work, interviewing, business administration, customer or public relations, or investigations can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education
An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals four (4) years can substitute for the above requirements
Graduates utilizing education attained in the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position will not be appointed until verification of the applicable degree has been obtained
Foreign trained graduates utilizing a degree attained outside of the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position must be prepared to provide a copy of a credential evaluation conducted by an Approved Credential Evaluation Agency
