The Natural Resources Division of the Department of Building and Development is seeking an Erosion & Sediment Control Engineering Technician who will conduct inspections, manage enforcement of erosion and sediment control, and perform plan reviews in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
Completes erosion and sediment control inspections. This includes performing inspections of active construction sites in accordance with state laws and local ordinances and County programs; reporting site problems and special conditions; proposing corrective actions to address site issues; completing bond reduction/release inspections and code compliance inspections, and maintaining/documenting inspections and project assignment status within the land management system
Manages erosion and sediment control enforcement per the County Ordinance and Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Act and Regulations, including processing notice to complies, stop work orders and notices of violations
Conducts plan review in accordance with state and local ordinances, laws, and handbooks
Qualification
Required
Associate degree
two (2) years of related work experience preferably related to stormwater, management, engineering, or a related field
equivalent combination of education and experience
thorough knowledge of County and State Erosion and Stormwater Management Program laws and regulations
specific working knowledge of civil engineering and construction site management and civil engineering plans
general knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and policies
ability to use computer programs and equipment
ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing
ability to maintain effective relationships with fellow employees, County officials, contractors, and the public
ability to act independently using sound engineering judgment to solve problems and issues in the field or the office
ability to effectively work in a team environment
Criminal and DMV background checks are required
Valid driver's license and good driving record required
