Responsibilities

Assist with reviews of construction application plans and specifications of facilities for the issuance of construction permits for public water systems

Will become familiar with governing regulations, including 327 IAC 8 and the Safe Drinking Water Act

Learn to provide technical expertise and guidance to the public water supply system, consulting engineers, and the public

Assist with education and outreach on compliance requirements, proper operation, and maintenance of the public drinking water system

Prepare reports for administrative and/or regulatory review

Provide input for developing plans for promoting programs

Learns to interpret rules and regulations governing public drinking water systems

Involved with public drinking water systems in development of safe drinking water programs

Required

Working knowledge of the sciences including chemistry, environmental sanitation, sanitary engineering, structural design, mathematics, safety engineering and physics

Basic knowledge of the principals and practices of public water system operation treatment and distribution

Ability to review plans and specifications for treatment and control systems

Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with various governmental levels and with the general public
