Responsibilities
Ability to work night shift (for this specific role)
Ability to deliver individualized care in a fast-paced acute care environment
Commitment to client care standards, safety policies, and code of conduct
Perform comprehensive assessments and implement nursing care plans using the full nursing process for surgical patients
Provide safe, high-quality perioperative care using evidence-based standards and protocols
Partner with patients and families to support informed decisions and provide education
Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and surgical safety guidelines
Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and OR staff
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the OR
Support a respectful, inclusive, team-oriented clinical environment
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, huddles, and case reviews
Complete all mandatory education, competencies, and population-specific training
Serve as a preceptor or mentor to newer nurses, students, and staff
Contribute to shared governance and performance improvement teams
Participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives
Maintain compliance with TJC Patient Safety Goals, client policies, and OR regulatory standards
Engage in data collection and utilize evidence to support clinical decision-making
Plan and coordinate care across the surgical continuum
Support development and improvement of OR protocols, procedures, and workflows
Ensure effective and efficient use of human and material OR resources
Qualification
Required
Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practice and sterile techniques
Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity OR setting
Excellent critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills
Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to respond to OR emergencies in a decisive, composed manner
Competent with basic computer systems and technology used in surgical care
Ability to provide culturally competent, patient-centered care
Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
Licensure & Certifications (required upon hire): Active RN License (Single-State or Compact)
BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Minimum 5 years of RN patient care experience
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
OR experience strongly preferred
