Health and Safety Manager

Responsibilities

Serve as a primary contact responsible for company-wide safety matters and function as Chair of Nobis’ Health & Safety Committee
Review existing safety program and develop appropriate additional programs to address company’s safety needs to comply with OSHA and Federal contract requirements
Maintain an experience modification rate (EMR) of less than 1.0 to be able to qualify for Federal work opportunities
Represent the company when responding to questions from OSHA representatives and report to OSHA as may be required under State or Federal law
Conduct (or arrange for) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and other necessary H&S training and education annually, along with coordinating medical surveillance, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and other related programs and maintenance of such records as required
Work with all employees to increase safety awareness for their specific job functions by developing and monitoring safety incentive programs and appropriate documentation of incidents and/or accidents
Write and/or review health and safety plans required for HAZWOPER, federal, commercial, state, and private project sites
Conduct frequent safety audits (field and office) with appropriate documentation of the results and recommended action plans for compliance
Must be available on an on-call basis in the event of a safety emergency or OSHA reportable accident

Required

Associate degree or Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited college or university
Minimum 3-years related experience and/or training or equivalent of education and experience
Must have experience with HAZWOPER safety issues and a proven record of coordinating safety operations on a variety of sites
Must have professionalism regarding time, costs, and deadlines and excellent communication skills with employees, management, and regulators
Must possess OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hour and Management/Supervision Training certificates
Must possess a valid driver's license, have own transportation, and proof of auto insurance and be able to travel for project site visits, meetings, and training

Preferred

Familiarity with OSHA, United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), transportation-related (highway and railway), construction-related, and other safety standards is desired
