Responsibilities

Provide executive staff assistance to the Assistant Inspector General for Investigation (AIGI), through broad evaluation of program status and strategic program planning activity for the Regional Offices, the Special Investigations Division, the Joint Civil Fraud Division, and Headquarters Operations
Prioritize the broad spectrum of allegations referred to the AIGI, in light of applicable laws, regulations and judicial opinions to determine that the extent and depth are of such national importance as to warrant the allocation of investigative resources and or whether there may be potential for criminal, civil or administrative action
Evaluate operational implications of proposed legislation and regulations relating to Department programs
Evaluate to determine projected impact on enforcement, both at the prosecutive and at the investigative levels, and develop options for approval of changes and or necessary program additions to meet enforcement needs
Share management responsibility for all initiatives of the Immediate Office of the AIGI, Headquarters Operations, Special Investigations Division, JCFD and the Regional Offices of Investigation, serve as the first line supervisor of all Special Agents in Charge and Directors within the Office of Investigation located in their jurisdictions to include functional areas such as:
Directing investigation operations nationwide
Providing technical advice relating to investigation matters and keeping the IG and appropriate HUD officials informed of the results of ongoing investigation activities
Developing and recommending new or revised investigation programs to allow the Department to effectively carry out its mission and meet national policy objectives
Coordinating and/or working with investigative organizations of state, local, and other Federal agencies in investigative matters
Controlling the use and dissemination of reports, files and information developed by the OI, as well as similar information developed and furnished by other federal, state and local investigative agencies
Developing and implementing procedures to aid Departmental officials in the use of information developed through investigation operations and to provide for tracking systems that will alert HUD management to investigation matters that are in need of attention

Required

U.S. Citizen or National
Complete a 1-year SES probationary period, unless already completed
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment
Complete an Executive Personnel Financial Disclosure Report annually
Undergo appropriate tax checks

Selectee is entitled to Law Enforcement Availability Pay at the rate of 25% of base pay
Be willing to travel an average of 5 days per month
Test negative for the presence of illegal drugs before placement in this position and be subject to random drug testing thereafter
Satisfactorily complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Criminal Investigator Training Program, or its equivalent
Carry a firearm, maintain firearms proficiency, and conduct full law enforcement activities
Be willing to work irregular unscheduled hours and under hazardous conditions
Be willing to relocate at the direction of management
Pass a pre-employment physical examination
Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
Basic Requirement - Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of progressively responsible leadership experience indicative of senior executive level managerial capability
Evidence must be provided that clearly demonstrates the applicant has the necessary level of executive potential, skills, abilities, specialized knowledge, and technical qualifications to perform as a SES executive
Demonstrated experience applying a broad range of Federal laws including, but not limited to, the Inspector General Act, civil and criminal law, confidentiality provisions and whistleblower protection guidelines
Demonstrated experience managing human, financial and information resources strategically
