Responsibilities
Record, reconcile, and analyze reinsurance premiums, claims, commissions, and settlements with external partners
Maintain accurate and compliant accounting records in alignment with GAAP and statutory standards
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of reinsurance accounts
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in balances with internal departments and external reinsurers
Contribute to financial reporting and regulatory filings tied to reinsurance activities
Partner with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and finance teams to apply proper accounting treatment to contracts
Support internal and external audits by providing clear documentation and explanations
Monitor treaty terms to ensure correct application of coverage, limits, and retention
Participate in process enhancements and system implementations related to reinsurance accounting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred
3–5 years of relevant accounting experience in insurance or reinsurance
Solid knowledge of reinsurance accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting standards
Familiarity with statutory reporting requirements for insurance companies is an advantage
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; experience with policy/claims systems a plus
Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
Preferred
CPA designation preferred
Familiarity with statutory reporting requirements for insurance companies is an advantage
