Information Technology Director - Enterprise Architecture

Responsibilities
Establishes architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices, and ensures alignment within all of Information Technology (IT):
Design IT Architecture: Leads development and ongoing maintenance of the enterprise architecture framework, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy
Technology Assessment: Evaluates and recommends new technologies to enhance current systems and support business strategies, including, but not limited to Cloud, AI Adoption, Automation and other emerging technology trends. Attend industry seminars and conferences to keep up with new technologies and shares learnings with wider IT team
Governance and Compliance: Establishes policies, standards, and operational guidelines for technical governance, and adherence to best practices in technology usage, ensuring compliance across the organization. Lead the Architecture Review Board. Contribute to ensuring security is designed into architecture
Architecture Roadmap: Designs, maintains, and governs execution of short-term and multi-year road maps in order to transform the Subaru of America (SOA) environment. Identifies key interactions and dependencies across separate systems and platforms, and leads the mapping of the relationships between information systems components (i.e., end users, business processes, applications, data, IT platform hardware/software, and networks)
Operations Management:
Maintains responsibility for establishing, monitoring, and reporting on team operational key performance indicators (KPIs)
Monitors implementations to ensure that financial and service targets are met according to timelines
Evaluates the total cost of ownership and return on investment of various architecture as well as potential alternatives
Directs relationships with vendors and ensures that vendors meet SOA business objectives, SLAs, and deliverables in a timely manner and within budget guidelines
Works closely with other members of the information technology leadership team during requests for proposals (RFPs), bids, contracts, and service agreements
Project Planning and Resource Allocation:
With other IT Leadership, participates in the prioritization and scheduling of major IT projects to ensure the efficient utilization of resources
Develops and defends opportunities for continuous creative improvement of processes and systems. Acts as a change agent for new technologies and processes in the SOA environment
Leadership and Team Management
Leads a team of internal and external architecture resources as well as Robotic Automation and AI staff. Provides guidance and direction to IT teams on technology standards and best practices. Mentors technical resources and provides motivational career development and assessment of team members
Collaborates with all Subaru Entities including Subaru Corporation (SBR), Subaru Canada, Inc (SCI), Subaru Indiana Automotive (SIA) for technological efficiencies
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Communicates vision and direction to internal and external stakeholders. Disseminates company changes and significant events to IT staff members, ensuring that they are informed and engaged. Fosters an inclusive environment for all team members
Advocates for change initiatives and effectively leads the implementation of innovative ideas within the IT department and across the organization
Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends
Assists in the recruitment, hiring, and training of IT staff, ensuring that they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfill their roles effectively. Ensures that team has visibility and opportunities to interact with other related departments and has a broader understanding of company direction and alignment
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and understanding of technologies including (but not limited to) - Packaged Software solutions (such as ERP systems and SaaS products), Cloud Architecture, Webservices/APIs, Master Data Management (MDM), Modern web development frameworks, Object Oriented Programming Languages (such as Java, C#), and application performance monitoring tools
Strong understanding of site reliability principles, SLAs, and operational excellence
Demonstrated senior-level IT management experience; adept at shaping and executing complex IT strategies
Executive presence in gaining consensus across all parties
Proven track record managing $1+ million budgets, showcasing financial acumen in IT operations
Strategic thinking, problem solving, and escalation management
Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills, essential for navigating complex IT landscapes and swiftly addressing challenges
Proficiency in articulating intricate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear concise manner
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships across IT teams and across the organization
Strong negotiation skills and a collaborative approach in dealings with third-party IT business partners
In-depth understanding of computer systems, applications, and operating systems and robust understanding of data security protocols
Prior experience with building and maintaining applications and understanding of how applications teams develop solutions
Bachelor's Degree and at least 12 to 15 years of relevant experience (with at least 5+ years of progressive technical leadership experience) required
