Metrology Engineering Supervisor
Corning Incorporated is a leading company in glass manufacturing, and they are seeking a Metrology Engineering Supervisor to lead a technical team in the design and implementation of measurement systems. This role involves mentoring engineers, optimizing processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor a team of measurement engineers and programmers providing technical guidance and leadership
Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs and develop the technical capabilities of the team
Set clear objectives for the team that align with plant production and engineering organizational goals
A hands-on supervisor that designs, develops and implements advanced testing methods, for glass measurement equipment such as interferometers, raman spectroscopy, FTIR’s, birefringence and others
Establish and refine metrology procedures to ensure compliance with industry and organizational standards
Oversee the testing of customer samples and manage special tests that require advanced methodologies
Apply scientific, mathematical, and statistical techniques to improve measurement accuracy and process control
Work closely with production, quality, and RD teams to address technical challenges and align measurement systems with product requirements
Present technical information, project updates and process improvement initiatives to management and stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering (optical, mechanical, electrical, computer or related fields), physics or related discipline
Minimum 3yrs experience supervising and developing technical teams or program management
Minimum 5yrs experience of metrology, programming, process control or data analysis
Desire to work in manufacturing environment
Proficiency in engineering software and tools for data collection, statistical analysis, and reporting
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work through complex technical challenges
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences
US Citizenship required
