Business Manager - Accountant
Spinoso Real Estate Group is a collaborative organization focused on retail real estate and operational excellence. The Business Manager - Accountant will support properties during transitions by ensuring accurate financial data and processes, preparing properties for handoff to the Property Accounting team, and collaborating with various teams to ensure operational readiness.
Responsibilities
Oversee financial operations for assigned properties, including reviewing and analyzing accounting records, journal entries, and financial reports, and preparing and delivering accurate monthly financial reporting to Clients
Monitor and manage the Accounts Payable process
Ensure proper approvals and appropriate cash management
Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting for the Client
Review prior management financial data for accuracy and evaluate chart of account mappings to Spinoso financials
Assist with budgeting activities
Create and complete closing entries
Collaborate with Property Accounting, Property Management, Leasing, Specialty Leasing and the on-site management team to produce annual budgets and forecasts, with particular focus on corporate allocations, management and leasing fees, capital schedules, depreciation and amortization as well as Yardi support
Calculate and process Client distributions
Coordinate with on-site Property Teams and provide leadership through training and guidance
Maintain Client confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
Interpret and manage Management and Leasing Agreement requirements for assigned properties, including deadlines, to ensure all accounting, reporting, and compliance obligations are fulfilled accurately and on time
Collaborate cross-functionally and company-wide, including with Business Managers, corporate and property teams, to support budgeting and forecasting, enhance client service, and drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
Work with Supervisor of Property Accounting to review, evaluate, create and implement accounting processes and procedures company-wide, focusing on collaboration, ease of use, best practices and continuous improvement
Document such checklists, templates, calendars, processes and internal controls to build Property Accounting procedures manuals, as needed
Assist management with prorations or other activities for Client’s financing or sales activities, as necessary
Perform other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Accounting
2-3 years of experience in a related field
Adept with technology, especially Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Able to manage multiple projects and priorities
Ability to manage time and be effective working from remote locations and/or home office
Preferred
Familiarity with real estate accounting software and/or Yardi experience a plus
