Orion Placement is a growing integrated design firm that merges architecture and structural engineering. They are seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to lead structural engineering projects from early design through construction, ensuring collaboration with architects and construction teams.

Responsibilities

Lead structural engineering projects from early design through construction
Prepare preliminary structural concepts and develop construction ready designs
Review building codes and ensure proper implementation throughout the design process
Coordinate with architects, construction project managers, and engineering partners across disciplines
Produce structural calculations and guide technical drafting during construction document preparation
Develop coordinated structural drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy across disciplines
Support construction administration, including shop drawing review, RFI responses, and coordination with construction teams
Communicate clearly with drafting staff, clients, and project stakeholders

Required

BS or MS in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
5 plus years of structural engineering building design experience, ideally commercial construction
Experience designing structural systems using steel, concrete, masonry, and light gauge steel, with solid foundation design understanding
Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred

Revit proficiency preferred, especially producing construction-level structural drawings
Experience with analysis and design tools such as RAM Structural System, SAP2000, RISA, or similar preferred
Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 12 months is highly preferred
