The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Laboratory Specialist to perform independent laboratory work and experiments. The role involves preparing specimens, overseeing specimen inventory, and developing documentation for publication, while working with in vitro immunology experiments under BSL2+ conditions.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures
Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation
Oversees specimen inventory
Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals

Qualification

Vitro immunology experimentsCell isolation techniquesMulti-color flow cytometryMultiplex cytokine ELISACytotoxicity assaysSingle-cell RNA-seq analysisManual dexterityBasic computer skills

Required

Experience in working with and carrying out in vitro immunology based experiments using immune cells derived from human blood products
Experience with cell isolation techniques
Experience with multi-color flow cytometry
Experience with multiplex cytokine ELISA
Experience with cytotoxicity assays
Ability to plan and carry out experimental work and troubleshoot independently
At least a BS degree with 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience or graduate degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field of study
High level of mobility, manual dexterity, visual acuity and basic computer skills
Ability to travel between laboratories, campus buildings and to sit or stand at a laboratory bench for extended periods of time

Preferred

Experience in single-cell RNA-seq analysis
