Trust and Estates Attorney
The Goodkind Group, LLC is a growing law firm seeking an experienced Trust and Estates Attorney to join its private client practice. This role involves managing client matters independently while collaborating on complex planning strategies, offering direct client exposure and opportunities for professional growth.
Responsibilities
Draft and review comprehensive estate planning documents, including:
Wills
Revocable and irrevocable trusts
Powers of attorney
Health care directives
Special needs trusts and other advanced planning instruments
Advise individuals and families on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning strategies
Handle all aspects of estate and trust administration, including:
Probate proceedings
Asset marshaling and valuation
Preparation of inventories, accountings, and fiduciary documentation
Distribution of estate and trust assets
Work closely with fiduciaries, beneficiaries, accountants, and financial advisors to ensure efficient administration and compliance
Assist with preparation and review of estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax filings in coordination with tax professionals
Participate in client meetings and provide clear, practical legal guidance tailored to client needs
Manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail
Support senior attorneys on complex planning and administration matters as needed
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning and trust/estate administration
Active North Carolina Bar admission required
If sitting primarily in South Carolina, SC Bar admission is required
Strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a collaborative team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
South Carolina Bar admission strongly preferred
Experience working directly with high-net-worth individuals and families preferred
