Responsibilities

Answers telephone and assists callers or direct to appropriate personnel, directs visitors as needed
Assists the public by answering inquires or directing issues to proper staff
Opens/Closes work orders in the County database management system and the billing system with thorough and accurate information
Assists with daily service interruption activities on delinquent accounts
Responds to calls regarding leaks by generating work orders and dispatching field staff
Receives payments, posts and reconciles transactions in utility billing software
Reconciles cash drawer and prepares batches for daily deposits
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of applicable rates, fees, and payment options
Assists customers with opening and closing of utility accounts
Makes adjustments on final accounts for checks
Performs other duties as required

Required

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Prior customer service and cash handling experience
Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and strong attention to detail required
Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar
Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public
Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Valid Florida Driver License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida), or valid Florida Identification Card is acceptable only for positions not required to drive a county vehicle
Must successfully pass a criminal background check

Preferred

Utility billing experience preferred
Prior experience with Hansen a plus
