Geotab is a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, seeking a Data Scientist Intern to contribute to the Data and Analytics team. The intern will be responsible for building datasets and data pipelines to support insights for Geotab's core product, working closely with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Data Engineers.

Responsibilities

Create algorithms and predictive models to extract information required to solve complex business problems

Use data mining, model building, and other analytical techniques to develop new datasets and data-driven solutions

Use SQL (on Google BigQuery) and Python to interact with Geotab’s big data infrastructure

Use Airflow to create automated pipelines in supporting fleet managers reporting use-cases

Test the performance of data-driven products and make recommendations for improving Geotab’s product suite

Support data validation and data quality checks for an ongoing, data environment migration initiative

Required

Within the final two years of a university degree (Masters or Bachelors) in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or a related field

Strong communication, organization, and time management skills, as well as a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic

High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail

Experience using SQL

Experience using Python

Experience working with Machine Learning algorithms and any dashboarding or data orchestration tools such as Airflow is an asset

Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
