Facilities Planning Manager

Responsibilities
Consistently evaluates current facilities to assess short- term and long-term CU needs and conduct appropriate feasibility studies to identify next steps in planning
Develops designs and layout plans, specifications, and standards
Establishes project plans and framework to oversee all aspects of construction and installation activities
Ensures facilities meet all regulatory and compliance standards including health, safety and operational requirements and industry best practices
In conjunction with the Project Management group and the Steering Committee, works to coordinate long range plans for facility needs expansions and upgrades
Builds strong vendor partnerships and negotiate contracts to deliver cost-effective, high-quality services
Works closely with Delivery leadership and Marketing to ensure every branch reflects GECU’s brand standards and regulatory requirements
Collaborates with branch leaders to resolve facility challenges impacting member experience and performance
Lead end-to-end planning and execution of new branch builds and remodels
Manage budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships to deliver projects on time and within scope
Partner with internal teams (Retail Operations, IT, Compliance) to integrate systems and services flawlessly
Conduct demographic and trade area studies to guide branch placement and expansion
Analyze market potential, member demographics, and competitive trends to inform strategic decisions
Align facilities and network strategies with organizational growth and member satisfaction goals
Continuously evaluates operational efficiency and cost savings across facilities and branch network
Oversees daily and ongoing maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of properties and systems including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and waste management
Implements policies and procedures that ensure optimal functioning and safety of buildings and compliance matters of physical security
Provides oversight into electronic security measures (cameras, alarm, etc) and risk assessment
Coordinates training of team members and coordinating appropriate responses to security incidents, like robberies or medical emergencies
Manages high performing team, driving performance management and supporting career development
Leads coordinated efforts to ensure team members are trained, knowledgeable and continue to develop skillset
Uphold the highest level of professionalism in building relationships and representing GECU
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
At least 6 years of experience in construction management
At least 4 years managing projects in similar scope including planning and budgeting
Certified or completion of additional training in Project Management required
High degree of professionalism and exceptional communication skills
Thorough ability to coordinate with multiple partners – both internal and external – to execute projects successfully
Proficient in project management tools and facilities management systems
Deep understanding of physical safety, compliance and regulatory requirements when it comes to building safety and construction
Advanced ability to negotiate contracts where appropriate and review agreements to ensure quality delivery of services
Ability to analyze market reporting, member demographics and trends to make solid recommendations for planning and expansion
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Preferred
College degree in business, project management or related study
