Responsibilities
Support Engineering and Production teams by machining, assembling, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
Manage multiple tooling assignments and ensure deadlines and quality expectations are met
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tooling, molds, dies, and fixtures to maintain optimal performance
Perform root-cause analysis on tooling failures, wear patterns, and returned components
Maintain shop equipment, tooling inventory, and machining apparatus
Develop, modify, and document tooling procedures in collaboration with Manufacturing and Project Engineers
Create detailed tooling documentation including setup instructions, maintenance guidelines, and equipment care manuals
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to build precision tooling to exact requirements
Ensure all tooling meets company quality standards, safety rules, and compliance guidelines
Collaborate on continuous improvement projects, cost savings initiatives, and manufacturing process enhancements
Perform additional tasks and support special projects as required
Qualification
Required
Completion of a Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent technical training preferred
Experience machining, assembling, testing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, molds, and fixtures
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to design and build custom tooling solutions
Hands-on experience in a machine shop environment using mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, and other conventional/CNC equipment
Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality inspection methods, and tooling standards
Working knowledge of 3D design software (SolidWorks, Creo/ProE) and the Microsoft Office Suite
Strong mechanical aptitude
Hands-on experience in a machine shop environment
Proficiency with precision measurement tools
Familiarity with manufacturing processes
Working knowledge of 3D design software
Preferred
Experience with CNC equipment
Ability to design and build custom tooling solutions
