Responsibilities
Build models that solve specific business outcomes using large-scale Walmart data and open-source or in-house tools
Grow a team of domain experts in NLP, LLMs, time series forecasting, and recommendation systems across retail and e-commerce domains
Drive execution of model and system development
Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions
Stay up to date with ongoing research and development
Partner with data scientists to design and architect AI/ML/DL systems
Work with ML engineers to deploy, operate, and optimize scalable solutions
Develop LLM-powered intelligent experiences using structured and unstructured data
Build personalized, context-aware Q&A systems
Design conversational recommendation systems using agent-based architectures
Advance traditional recommender systems into interactive, multi-topic experiences
Build multi-agent workflows that translate natural language into goal-driven tasks
Collaborate with DS, MLE, Product, and UX teams
Deploy, monitor, and optimize AI/ML systems in production
Define and uphold responsible and trustworthy AI standards
Contribute to internal and external AI/ML research
Lead teams building large-scale Generative AI systems
Develop data science tools for retail and e-commerce
Leverage LLMs for summarization and large-scale applications
Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to productionize solutions
Build GenAI systems to support financial planning and decision-making
Qualification
Required
Generative AI
Time Series experience (forecasting models)
Prompt engineering and fine-tuning
LLMs, RAG, BERT, GPT
Experience with NLP, LLMs, time series, and traditional ML techniques
Retail and e-commerce data science experience
Experience managing mid-sized teams of data scientists and MLEs
Proven cross-functional leadership
Strong organizational, communication, and influencing skills
Detail-oriented and results-driven mindset
Experience deploying high-risk NLP applications in production environments
Strong background in Trustworthy AI and Responsible ML
Mentorship experience for junior data scientists
Strong foundation in statistics, optimization, and deep learning
Advanced Python skills and experience with ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Experience with ML infrastructure (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow)
Master's or PhD in a quantitative field
5+ years of analytics or data science experience
Strong solution architecture mindset
Experience with training and inference of large-scale AI/ML models
Expertise in LLM ecosystems (GPT, LLaMA, Mistral, Claude, Gemini, etc.)
Hands-on experience with RAG, AI agents, LangChain, LangGraph
Preferred
Text-to-SQL or Text-to-Cypher systems
LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG
Publications in top-tier ML/NLP conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP, ICLR)
Spark and big data processing
Cloud ML experience (GCP, Azure)
GPU-based deep learning model training
