Research Lab Tech I - Albers Lab

The Research Technician I will assist postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty with molecular and cellular neurobiology techniques, including cell culture and mouse experiments, while maintaining laboratory equipment and organizing samples.

Responsibilities
Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures
Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed
Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results
Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods
Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports
Qualification
Required
Completion of animal training and confidential handling of personalized health information
Expertise in animal husbandry
Expertise in immunohistochemistry
Expertise in PCR RT-PCR
Expertise in statistical analysis using standard packages such as R, SAS or SPSS
Ability to perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures
Ability to prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines
Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed
Ability to record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results
Ability to compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods
Ability to assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports
Preferred
Expertise in molecular and cellular neurobiology techniques of cell culture
Expertise in mouse husbandry and mouse experiments including drug administration, dissection of olfactory epithelium and brain, sectioning of brain tissue, immunohistochemistry and quantitative microscopy
Communications skills and organization to coordinate efforts with collaborating teams between MGH, Harvard Medical School and outside hospitals
