Point of Care Testing Coordinator - Lab Services - Full Time - Days
Nebraska Methodist College is part of the Nebraska Methodist Health System, which focuses on providing exceptional care to the communities it serves. The Point of Care Testing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating point of care testing throughout the hospitals to ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency requirements, as well as developing and implementing training and educational programs for testing personnel.

Responsibilities
Review work performed, identify problems, and direct corrective action as necessary to ensure accurate, timely waived testing utilizing appropriate techniques including review of reports, quality control, and other records
When appropriate, consults with the Medical Director(s), Clinical Operations Manager or designee, regarding technical issues
Assists in continued instrument and/or testing method troubleshooting of tests as needed
Performs review of pertinent information and initiates immediate follow-up as appropriate. Reports issues and problems to Clinical Operations Manager
Reviews patient testing results
Ensures quality control is completed and documented 100% of the time
Ensures any associated quality control issues are resolved
Develops and maintains scientific and technical expertise in the laboratory
Develop, implement, and document orientation, training and education to ensure testing personnel competence, provide excellent service and meet accreditation requirements by effective verbal or written communication
Assists in training new and existing staff including the review and completion of orientation checklists and skill/training checklists
Organizational and Plan Of Care (POC) competencies are completed 100% of the time
Communicates process/procedural changes in a timely manner and educates staff on the need for the change
Identifies staff performance issues. Initiates immediate follow-up as required. Provides documentation of issues to Service Leader
Prepare and participate in inspections, proficiency testing, Quality Assurance activities, properly maintains records, prepare and update section policies and procedures to fulfill the requirements of the accrediting agencies (i.e. College of American Pathologists (CAP), Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) by following the provided protocol
Completes CAP checklist responses in preparation for on-site or self-inspection
Respond to correct all section deficiencies within the deadline by the specified timeline
Procedure manuals are reviewed/revised at least every two years
Distributes Proficiency Tests to testing personnel. Reviews and submits Proficiency Tests results
Completes Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology; or BS degree with a Certificate from a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited MLS/MT/CLS Program required
Minimum of three years' MLT/MLS experience working in health care laboratory environment required
American Society Clinical for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) registration required
Effective oral and written communication with persons with a variety of education and experience
Preferred
Point of Care testing and supervision experience preferred
Specialty Certification is preferred
