Axiom Space is collaborating with Astrolab, Inc. to develop a Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) for future Artemis missions. The role requires a resilient, high-energy, experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering support, define and verify hardware, and assist in project management and testing.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with subsystem teams who are developing Axiom’s LTVS design
Providing systems engineering support to define, develop, and verify hardware from one of the primary subsystem teams
Providing key systems engineering services that define and scope the project:
Concept of operations definition and functional analysis
Stakeholder and technical requirements definition and management
Interface definition, analysis, control, and management
Verification planning, coordination, implementation, and close-out, including testing and analysis-oriented verifications
Life cycle review coordination and support
Trade study implementation and management
Planning and performing testing of both subsystem components and integrated assemblies
Assisting in the design and development of hardware and software test rigs
Analyzing data and making recommendations for design improvements
Performing additional job duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's or master's degree in STEM from an accredited institution
10-15 years of experience in systems engineering
Familiarity with implementation of NASA Standards, Federal Standards, and/or DOD Standards
Track record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
Proven to deliver high quality results under tight deadlines
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones

Preferred

Experience in Extravehicular Activities (EVA) and Extravehicular Robotics (EVR) operations and hardware
