Senior Accountant
Hampton Nonprofit Management is an early-stage, nonprofit-obsessed consulting firm seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. The role involves providing advanced accounting support for multiple accounts, handling complex accounting processes, and leading month-end close, all while prioritizing mission impact for nonprofit clients.
Responsibilities
You will keep a clean general ledger for our clients, with timely and accurate journal entries, AP, AR, bank and credit card transactions
You will ensure that books are accurate, complete, and reconciled each month
Using excel wizardry, you will build custom workbooks and financial reconciliations to solve problems and answer questions
You will be a resource for junior accounting members of our team and on-site client accountants where your guidance will reinforce technical best-practices and company policies
With an understanding of what really matters to our clients, you will make decisions that prioritize mission returns and programmatic impact
You will become a trusted, valued, and liked member of client management teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
4–6 years of progressive accounting experience
QuickBooks native (like a fish in water)
Excel master (vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables) required
Strong understanding of GAAP
Customer service focused with great communication, both internally and with our clients
Ability to simultaneously self-manage multiple priorities and overlapping deadlines
Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently
Personal drive to make a meaningful difference in your community
Preferred
Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
