Responsibilities

Design, implement, and deploy secure Microsoft services in cloud and hybrid environments with increasing independence

Build scalable backend systems (distributed systems, microservices) with attention to data integration and defined contracts

Apply engineering principles for high availability, scalability, robustness, and observability; contribute to SLO and telemetry practices

Build and deploy services to Azure using modern CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and automated testing practices

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including security, compliance, and site reliability to meet regulatory and customer requirements

Identify technical risks and dependencies; propose solutions and contribute to design decisions

Uphold and apply engineering best practices (code quality, design reviews, testing, operational excellence)

Support junior engineers through knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving

Participate in service ownership (e.g., on-call rotations) to ensure service quality and incident response

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role

Candidates must have an active TS and be willing if needed to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph)

This role will require candidates to maintain the TS clearance

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role

Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination

This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements

You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions

Preferred

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience

2+ years of software engineering experience building and releasing web services

Experience working independently on feature-level projects with minimal supervision

Passion for delivering customer impact and value

Experience building and deploying infrastructure using Microsoft Azure technology or AWS

Experience supporting government or regulated industries (security, compliance, and audit readiness)

Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph is preferred but not required
