PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (ENVIRONMENTAL-INTERDISCIPLINARY)
USAJOBS is seeking a Physical Scientist to serve as the primary environmental program manager. The main purpose of this role is to manage, execute, and oversee operations for assigned environmental program elements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies.

Responsibilities
Plans, coordinates, and manages all aspects of assigned environmental program or programs through application of professional knowledge and skill in the practices, processes, and techniques of one or more of the following disciplines: Community Planner (0020); Biological Scientist (0401); Environmental Engineer (0819); and Physical Scientist (1301)
Responsible for executing assigned program element(s), in-house and by contract, to comply with all applicable Federal, state, and local environmental laws and policies
Provides advisory services on specific problems, projects, programs, and functions in assigned program area
Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work that enhances the safety of the work environment

Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate drivers license may be required
May be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: General Engineer/Environmental Engineer GS-0819, General Physical Science GS-1301, General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences GS-0401, Community Planner GS-0020
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of professional environmental principles, practices, techniques, and procedures; Knowledge to troubleshoot environmental problems; Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws; Skill to integrate an interdisciplinary team; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs
IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: If position has a positive degree requirement or education forms the basis for qualifications, you MUST submit transcripts with the application
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements
