Engineering Intern
Whitcraft Group is a global manufacturer of complex aircraft engine components, committed to operational improvement and customer service. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern role provides hands-on exposure to aerospace component manufacturing, supporting production and process improvement initiatives while working closely with experienced engineers.

Responsibilities
Supporting manufacturing process development, documentation, and continuous improvement for aerospace sheet metal components
Working on the Genba to troubleshoot production issues and support corrective action implementation
Participating in Kaizen workshops and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost
Developing and maintaining work instructions, process flows, standard work, and visual controls
Supporting engineering changes and coordinating with quality and operations teams
Using CAD systems to create, modify, and review part models, tooling, fixtures, and layouts
Collecting and analyzing data related to yield, scrap, cycle time, and process performance
Applying Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving tools in a manufacturing environment
Gaining hands-on experience on the Genba with CNC machines, lasers, forming presses, inspection tooling, and related equipment
Supporting a customer-focused and quality-driven manufacturing culture
Qualification
Required
Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
Ability to work on-site and spend significant time working on the shop floor (Genba)
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis
Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations
Preferred
Previous internship, co-op, laboratory, shop, or hands-on technical experience in manufacturing or engineering
Exposure to: Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Six Sigma principles
3D parametric modeling and drafting CAD systems
GD&T
Manufacturing processes, particularly sheet metal fabrication
Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems
Interest in continuous improvement, problem-solving, and practical applications of engineering fundamentals
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on manufacturing environments
Experience working with or around manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, lasers, forming presses, inspection equipment, material handling equipment, and general shop machinery
Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Interest in pursuing a full-time career in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Operations after graduation
