Operations Manager/Senior Project Manager
Metric Geo is a California-based environmental and heavy industrial construction company specializing in environmental remediation and water/wastewater treatment systems. The Operations Manager will oversee all Heavy Industrial Mechanical Construction operations across Southern California, carrying full P&L responsibility and leading a dedicated team on large-scale construction projects.
Responsibilities
Full P&L responsibility for Southern California HIMC operations
Oversee financial performance, cost forecasting, change management, and monthly project reviews
Collaborate with executive leadership to evaluate work-in-progress (WIP), change orders, and cash flow
Champion company culture, safety, and quality across all HIMC teams
Mentor Project Managers, Engineers, and Superintendents, fostering the next generation of construction leaders
Lead recruiting initiatives for engineers and interns, and support training and career development programs
Conduct regular operational meetings, reviews, and evaluations to maintain alignment and performance
Promote and enforce a best-in-class safety culture across all job sites
Ensure proper documentation, scheduling, and process management for all projects
Provide direction on project execution including means and methods, scheduling, and quality assurance
Forecast personnel and resource needs; direct recruitment and field staffing in coordination with dispatch and HR teams
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders
Serve as the regional point of contact for client engagement and conflict resolution
Provide strategic input to senior leadership on operational improvement opportunities
Ensure adherence to company procedures, implementing best practices and process efficiencies
Facilitate 'lessons learned' sessions and ongoing professional development efforts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Chemical), Construction Management, or related field
15+ years of progressive leadership experience managing large-scale water/wastewater construction projects for public agencies
Proven track record with projects valued at $100M+ and full P&L oversight
Expertise in self-performed construction, including civil, structural, mechanical, and process systems
Strong technical proficiency in project controls, scheduling (Primavera P6/MS Project), and cost management software (Vista, Procore, PM Web)
Knowledge of water/wastewater process systems, regulatory compliance, and environmental standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple complex projects
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or DBIA certification
Experience with design-build, CMAR, or EPC delivery methods
Established industry relationships with Southern California utilities, agencies, and consultants
Familiarity with federal contracting and FAR/DFARS requirements
Advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration
Experience implementing Lean Construction or related operational methodologies
