Responsibilities
Build and support full-stack applications used by external end users to interactively query, filter, and analyze massive datasets
Engineer solutions across the entire SDLC, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support
Develop scalable, distributed systems on AWS using modern, cloud-native patterns
Troubleshoot and optimize performance in big-data and distributed data-processing environments
Partner with product owners, architects, and leadership to translate business needs into technical solutions
Design, implement, and evolve APIs, services, and user-facing interfaces
Use AI tools to improve engineering productivity and incorporate AI thoughtfully into solutions
Lead by example—raising the bar for code quality, system design, and engineering excellence
Qualification
Required
Strong engineering mindset and discipline (design thinking, testing, performance, scalability)
Experience with Java (primary or secondary language)
Angular or modern UI development experience with a strong focus on user experience
Deep experience building on AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, EMR, etc.)
Conceptual understanding of big data and distributed data processing
Hadoop, Spark, Presto, AWS EMR
Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and performance tuning
Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve developer productivity
Ability to clearly communicate technical tradeoffs and design decisions
Preferred
Experience embedding or supporting AI-powered features
Experience designing systems and discussing tradeoffs
Experience designing systems and discussing performance vs scalability
Experience designing systems and discussing business needs vs technical constraints
Experience influencing others and handling technical pushback
Familiarity with AWS Well-Architected Framework
Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell, Groovy, etc.)
